How a round works

1. Choose an available difficulty level and read the match context in the header.
2. Use the team, competition and date to identify the likely starting XI.
3. Search for a player; correct names fill their slot on the pitch immediately.
4. Use the single reveal only when the remaining slot cannot be narrowed down.

What the game checks

Published lineup puzzles require two valid teams and 22 unique starters, while the playable board selects four hidden slots from that verified lineup.

Methodology

The source record is validated as a complete starting lineup before it can become a puzzle. Team identities, match context and 22 distinct starters must agree; the four playable slots are then drawn from that approved record rather than assembled from search popularity.

Limitations

Historic lineup sources can disagree about formations or the exact label of a player's role. The game checks whether the player started the match, not whether every provider drew the same tactical shape, and it does not accept substitutes who appeared later.

Example

A final can narrow the possible XI quickly, but a player who was in the squad rather than the starting lineup will not fill a hidden pitch slot.

Corrections

A correction report should include the displayed match, team and disputed starter. The underlying lineup can be reviewed against the match record and corrected without changing unrelated daily levels.

Tips

• Start with the team whose regular starters you remember best, then use positions to complete the four slots.
• Use the match date to avoid mixing an iconic club's players from different seasons.
